&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;
&lt;b&gt;Activities of the Kern Reading Association Include:&lt;/b&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Sponsoring an annual conference to promote quality language arts instruction for students (K-12)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Distributing quarterly newsletter&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Donating books to areas of need locally, nationally, and internationally.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Hosting yearly Young Authors&#146; Fair  &amp;  providing students with an audience for their published work and an opportunity to meet outstanding  professional authors and illustrators.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Awarding Literacy Grants and Scholarships to recognize innovative literacy instruction. &lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Hosting yearly Book Talk Tea to celebrate literacy and  encourage KRA/CRA membership.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Co-sponsoring a summer reading program for Kern County students.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
