KERN COUNTY BATTLE OF THE BOOKS 2020-2021
A bit of history:
Battle of the Books was started 30-plus years ago by Erna Wentland at Belridge School. In 2002, Katie Feldstein and Sue Mustoe took over administration of the Kern County Battle of the Books. The program has grown to include students throughout the County and due to the immense popularity of the program, the County is divided into two sections for 2 days of competition. Since 2012 Sarah McDonald and Katie Feldstein have been co-coordinators. With the continued interest and growing enthusiasm for the program, a third day of competition with another coordinator, Jan Lanse, was added in 2016.
The Present:
Kern Reading Association and the Kern County Superintendent of Schools are partners in supporting the Kern County Battle of the Books competition! The Battle will be held on three dates for Grades 4-6 and one date for Grades 6-8 (Middle School/Jr. High).
